River Condition Assessment
We carry out accredited River Condition Assessments using the standard approved methodology to evaluate the health of rivers, streams, and ditches.
We’re accredited to carry out River Condition Assessments (RCA) using the standard approved methodology developed for Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG). These assessments provide a structured, evidence-based way to understand the ecological health of rivers, streams, and ditches.
We survey in-channel features, bank structure, riparian habitats, hydrology, species indicators, and pressures such as pollution, channel modification or overgrazing. As well as supporting BNG calculations, our work can inform restoration planning, conservation projects, or simply help landowners understand the current condition of their watercourses.
We also offer advice on potential improvements and next steps, grounded in fieldwork and ecological expertise.
Our assessments typically include:
• Fully accredited to deliver River Condition Assessments (RCA)
• Uses the standard, approved methodology required for Biodiversity Net Gain
• Assesses habitat quality, species indicators, and pressures on river health
• Supports BNG calculations, planning applications, and restoration projects
• Practical, expert recommendations based on on-the-ground data
