Founded by Dr Jonathan Lewis-Phillips, Wildside Ecology draws on over 20 years of experience in ecology, spanning delivery, research and consultancy. Jonathan has a PhD in ecology and was previously Managing Director at Rivers Ecology, where he led pioneering work on delivering and researching several Integrated Constructed Wetlands (ICW) and helped deliver one of Natural England’s first demonstration Biodiversity Net Gain projects.

Our expertise spans both aquatic and terrestrial habitats, with a strong emphasis on practical, landscape-scale solutions - from wetland creation and river restoration to rewilding and habitat connectivity.

We pride ourselves on our pragmatic, can-do approach. Whether we’re designing habitat interventions, delivering monitoring programmes, advising on policy, or managing on-the-ground delivery, our focus is always on creating ecologically robust outcomes that are grounded in science and shaped by experience.

If you’re looking for an ecology partner who can think big, work collaboratively, and deliver tangible results, we’d love to hear from you!
