Invasive Species
Helping restore balance by identifying, managing and removing invasive species with minimal impact - supporting long-term recovery of native habitats and biodiversity.
Invasive non-native species are one of the biggest threats to biodiversity across the UK. At Wildside Ecology, we support landowners, community groups and conservation organisations to manage and remove invasive species in sensitive and effective ways. Our approach prioritises long-term ecological restoration - not just removal, but regeneration.
• Survey and identification – we carry out targeted surveys to assess the presence, extent and impact of invasive species such as Himalayan balsam and signal crayfish.
• Tailored management plans – we develop site-specific, realistic plans for control and removal, always considering follow-up regeneration and monitoring.
• Sensitive removal methods – wherever possible, we use non-chemical, low-impact techniques that protect native habitats while addressing the issue at its root.
• Community and volunteer training – we can support engagement events and hands-on training sessions, helping build long-term local capacity for action.
• Ecological recovery and monitoring – once removal begins, we support the recovery process with native planting, natural regeneration guidance, and ongoing ecological monitoring.•
