River Restoration
We plan and support river restoration projects that bring natural processes back to improve habitat, water quality, and biodiversity.
Healthy rivers shape themselves. Over time, straightened, dredged, or degraded channels lose their complexity, and with it, the habitats that support wildlife. We work to restore natural processes, structure, and connection in rivers and streams, helping species return and ecosystems recover.
Our work includes site assessments, habitat surveys, restoration design input, and long-term monitoring. We can advise on channel re-meandering, wetland creation, riparian planting, and in-stream enhancements that benefit species like water voles, trout, dragonflies, and birds.
We also integrate river restoration with Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and landscape-scale recovery, ensuring projects deliver measurable improvements for both wildlife and people.
Key services include:
• Ecological input into river restoration design and delivery
• Baseline surveys and River Condition Assessments (RCA)
• Design of interventions such as re-meandering, riffle and pool creation, and floodplain reconnection.
• Integration with BNG, wetland creation, and rewilding projects
• Long-term monitoring of species and habitat change
